IF I SAID, “Witchcraft has no place in Christianity” you would most definitively shake your head in agreement. Yet, the Bible tells us that REBELLION is as the sin of witchcraft. Ouch. You say, “I’m not rebellious!” Well let’s see.
“For the mystery of lawlessness (that hidden principle of rebellion against constituted authority) is already at work in the world, [but it is] restrained only until he who restrains is taken out of the way.” 2 Thessalonians 2:7 The “mystery of lawlessness” is translated as “spirit of rebellion”. It involves a spirit or movement against true Biblical faith and DIVINE LAW, it seeks freedom from moral restraint and it takes pleasure in sin. It rejects God given authority- God’s Word, God’s holy church, God’s pastors, prophets, teachers, apostles and evangelists. It’s a spirit that says, “I am my own god. I can do what I want. I don’t have to submit to anyone.” It rejects DIVINE law- laws of marriage, laws of love, natural law and spiritual law. It seeks to elevate man above God.
This spirit existed in Paul’s day and we are told it will increase on an accelerated scale as we get closer to the return of Jesus. This spirit of lawlessness is alive and spreading like leaven. It’s removed the cross from Christianity and the call to die to yourself and your flesh. What can you do? Let the Spirit examine your heart. Recognize your rebellion, repent and surrender to Jesus. Behold, He stands at the door and knocks. #runyourrace
