EVEN THE GENTLEST BREEZE rattles the leaves on a tree. Jesus said quite a stark comment to a very knowledgeable man named Nicodemis, “You must be born again or you cannot see the kingdom of God”. Nicodemis didn’t quite understand and so Jesus explained that a man must be born again of the Spirit of God and exhibit the presence of the Spirit in his life. He compared the Spirit to the wind and just as you cannot see the wind; you can hear it and see it’s effects. So is everyone born again. You cannot see the Spirit inside a man, but you can see the effect the Spirit has on that man. “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”” John 3:8 NKJV
On some people, the Spirit has a hurricane like effect- the Spirit is raging against all forms of darkness and that person’s change is seen in an immediate way and in a rather small amount of time. This was me. I was ready and willing for the Spirit to come in a wreck shop on my sinful ways. I removed myself from all relationships that were not godly, all music, all books and tv, all clothing. I wanted nothing to do with who I once was. I wanted all of God in all His ways and nothing of me. Now, on others, I have seen a very slowly, even sometimes frustrating effect of the Spirit on people.
He continually wants His way, but they fight Him tooth and nail until they realize they are fighting against God. Ever so slowly, the Spirit begins producing fruit of righteousness. Even the gentlest breeze rustles the leaves. However, if there is no change in your words or your actions, if there is no change in the way you see darkness and you do not love the Light and hate sin since your “confession”, then you have not been born again no matter what you confess. This is a hard thing to accept, but God is not messing around. The time is short. You must be born again. Throw up your arms in surrender to the living God. Confess yourself to be a sinner that needs a Savior. Depart from sin. Ask for the Holy Spirit to wreck you and let Him have His way in your life. #runyourrace
