SET: TO PLACE SOMETHING IN A specific place or position. “And he did evil because he did not set his heart to seek the Lord with all his desire.” 2 Chronicles‬ ‭12:14‬ ‭Rehoboam’s sin was want of earnestness and consistency. Although he humbled himself, and seemed penitent for a season, and professed the true worship of God; YET he quickly relapsed into his former sins, because he was not sincere nor serious in his actions, and his heart was not right with God. And he did evil… because he did NOT SET his heart to seek the Lord; by prayer and supplication, and by an attendance on the service and worship of God. He did these things outwardly, yet not SINCERELY; he did not engage in them seriously, with affection and fervour. Oh Rehoboam!

Where did you go wrong? The Bible declares that he did not SET HIS HEART to seek the Lord. Like many others, he endured for a SEASON on his initial zealousness to worship God; but when the rubber meets the road, he fell back to his dumb idols. This is lukewarm, half-hearted devotion. You sprung up immediately, but in the heat of the day when it gets too hot, you dry up and whither. I see it everyday. You say, “I love Jesus”, yet you won’t give him ALL. You will give Him some, or maybe even most; but not ALL.

You won’t give Him your whole heart, all your time, money, devotion, mind, body and soul. You don’t truly love Him because you don’t truly love others. When the rubber meets the road, you say things like, “I’m going through something” for reasons of separation. Why? Because your allegiance is divided. You love the thought of salvation, but the narrow road is too daunting. Or maybe you’ve fallen prey to the “just believe” heresy. If your belief has not resulted in a change of heart and direction, a stark turning from sin to righteousness; then you were the seed sown on hardened ground. Your heart needs to be RESET. This was the heart of our LORD, “not My will, but Thine”. Repent and reset your heart. Reset your mind to seek ONLY HIM and HIS ways. He is standing at the door knocking. #runyourrace
