RESPECT

RESPECT

YEARS AGO, I HAD A conversation with a friend about her kid’s teacher. She says, “My kid doesn’t like or respect her teacher!” And she went on to grumble, complain and speak negatively about that teacher. When she was done, I said, “Can I challenge you on something?” “Sure” she says. I begin to show her how she constantly had talked bad about that teacher in front of her child and others, undermining that teacher’s authority. It was no wonder the kid didn’t like her teacher.

I see this in the church all the time, parents talk bad about the pastor, youth pastor, children’s pastor, Sunday school teacher, youth volunteer and then the parent faints ignorance, in a state of pride declares, “My kid doesn’t like or respect them! They are horrible and mean!” No dear friend. You have tainted your child’s vision.

When you undermine the authority of any leader, and talk bad about them to others and especially to your children, you erode the foundation of that organization. Woe to you if it is the church of the living God. You undermine its authority and teach your children to do the same. “The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, But the righteous will come through trouble.” Proverbs‬ ‭12:13‬ Words are powerful and we will be held accountable for our idle words. #runyourrace
