REVELATION AS A DIRECT WORD from God is emphasized more in Leviticus than any other Bible book. No less than 36 times is it explicitly stated that the Lord spoke to Moses. It contains the foremost chapter in the Bible describing the day of atonement. If you do not understand your need for atonement, you do not understand the cross. Imagine that, relevance in OT law.
The second great commandment as stated by Jesus is found in Leviticus 19:18, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself”. More relevance. “Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint and perish; But happy is he who keeps the law.” Proverbs 29:18 This Scripture is so often misinterpreted. Some translations use the word “vision” and so people quote, “without a vision, the people perish”. They preach it as to say, “if you do not set a vision, or goal, for your life; you perish!”
This is not an accurate translation my friend. “Vision” means “revelation”, and there’s a second part which is conveniently left off by most. This Scripture is about God revealing, a REVELATION if you will, what He wants for His people, His ways and His laws according to His Word. More relevance in the OT. Here we find ourselves in today’s society: do away with God’s Word, people cast off all restraint and will ultimately perish. This is truth. BUT the second is equally true, keep God’s revealed Word and it will go well with you. #runyourrace
