DO YOU STINK? “The reverent fear and worshipful awe of the Lord [includes] the hatred of evil; pride, arrogance, the evil way, and perverted and twisted speech I hate.” Proverbs 8:13 Your offense is arrogance and stinks of pride. I have seen more people leave a church because 1. they were offended, or 2. they took on another’s offense.
An offended person is a prideful person. The offended believe they deserve something. Typically, they believe they deserve to be recognized, but got overlooked. The offended looks at herself through rose-colored glasses and puts others through a microscope. They overlook their flaws and magnify yours. In their pride, they cannot forgive because they were done wrong. There vision is always skewed in their favor.
I have seen this more times than I can count. Please hear me today: if you’re offended, or have taken on another’s offense, you stink. God is resisting you. God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Your prayers are hindered. You and Him are not ok. An offense is a barrier- not just between you and others, but between you and God. You have forgotten your own offense before the Lord. You have forgotten the great debt you were pardoned of. Your pride overshadows any “good” you think you are doing and in arrogance you proclaim, “I have done nothing wrong!” You need to fall down in humility and repent. Let that offense go and release others. The time is short. Pride is rotting and decomposing your soul. #runyourrace
