RIDDLE ME THIS: if you say you trust God for salvation, then why do you act as if you cannot trust Him to keep you safe? This Scripture God placed on my heart this morning, “Yes, they spoke against God: They said, “Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?” Psalms 78:19 Does it seem like an odd verse to you? Me too. But the Lord had me spend a great deal of time meditating on this.
The problem with that generation of Israelites is exactly what is going on in today’s church. God’s people have dwelt too long in Egypt, thinking they are ok living in the world and still serving the Lord; but the reality is: you are not ok. God’s Word has always been, “Come out of the world and be separated”. These times are revealing whom and what your trust is in.
The Israelites saw God’s miraculous power. He provided for them time and time again. They heard His voice and saw His mighty works. They testified of His plagues. They witnessed salvation through the blood of the Passover lamb. Yet, they continually provoked Him, tempted Him and limited His ability to provide for them and take care of them.
Jesus says the same, “If God so clothes the grass in the field, shall He not clothe you? O you of little faith.” Unbelief is a gross sin. You say, “I believe in God” yet you do not trust Him to keep you safe through this earthly journey? How can this be? In essence you are saying the same words to the Lord, “Can God furnish a table in difficult times?” Can God really take care of my life? My health? My family? My children? Can He provide? Notice how God responded to this kind of unbelief in v. 21, “Therefore the LORD heard this and was furious; so a fire was kindled against Jacob”. Belief is more than saying, “I believe in God”, it’s saying “I believe Him”.
Belief is all encompassing. It is laying my life down in order to live for Him. I give Him my life: my body, my mind, will and emotions are laid on the altar. You cannot add one hour to your life- why do you seek to preserve it? This is just the beginning of the birthing pains. Things are going to get worse. Do you believe God? Get rid of all fear and unbelief.
Make this your proclamation: God will see me through this fleeting life, He will provide all my needs until I see Him face to face in His kingdom. “Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as dung, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.”Philippians 3:8-11 #runyourrace
