If you live is WA, you know about our two seasons, Summer and the other rainy seasons.
We get caught up with a certain season, but the fact is if you wait long enough, it will change.
My kids are in different season. They are in a place where, they are little human beings now. Humans who can think about jokes- Like Simone… the other day we were in a car and she asks us to all sing but, I kept asking Eva to sing and when she didn’t sing I told mom that she had a rebellious heart
Well my turn came, and I started giving reason why I should not sing after her – Simone said “Dad, you are having a rebellious heart…. after a laugh…she asked her mom
Mom? What does a rebellious heart mean? Who is this kid and where did my little girl go?
It was just like the other day, I was making funny sounds to her – gaga bubu, gaga …and all those crazy things we do as parent. Now it’s a whole new world.
Take any Parent and ask them what season their kids are in- They will without a heartbeat tell you…Oh we are the whining season, the talk back season, the urging season, the leave me alone season, the I want to spend time with you season, the I love daddy season, I love mommy season.…and the list goes on.
Some time you see a kid in the store with their parent and automatically, depending on how they are acting or not, you can group them in a certain season.
This evening, I wonder when people look at you, which season of your Christian walk do they see. What season are you in your quest for God. Or lack of it?
If I asked you to identify which season you are in spiritually – what would you answer be?
Genesis 8:22 -22 As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night.”
What this verse is saying it that as long as we live, there will be seasons.
Seasons that we can see, the tree changing, the weather becoming funny, kids growing
What about those seasons in our hearts that we can only feel, experience,
What happens when you have planned your week out and then the storm hits and you have to be evacuated and everything you have worked for, is under 10 feet water? – Huston
How about when you go for regular check up and the doctors give you news to start putting your thing in order
Or you go to work, and the boss gives you the notice
Or your spouse of many years has a different plan on your future
I know what Jesus said:
John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
How about when I don’t have the strength to take heart? What do I do in that season Lord- What do I do?
Ephesians 6:10-18 10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we[a] are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truthand the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.[b] 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.[c] 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere
Put on all God’s armor – Not just part of it – You will face many seasons, and whatever is working in Summer might need a reinforcement to help you go through winter
There are multiple strategies, the attacks will vary, different seasons, different attacks
After the battle – THERE WILL BE A BATTLE!!! There will be battles -You have to be clothed right to be able to stand firm.
Every part is important. – This is God giving you His plan to withstand ALL seasons.
Can I be honest with you for a minute? SOME OF US ARE BIG.
Let me explain- God created us for a purpose, He knew you before you were born, He has your days written out. He is all knowing and he is a custom builder. No one person is like the other. Even twins, they are each created in special way.
You have a custom armor build for you and only you. He built it according to what He has called you. The way He sees you and the way He want you to be.
The issue comes in then we try to put on our armor – but we are too big.
We have take up worry, fear, greed, our own desires and have clothed ourselves with this stuff. When we try to put on our belts and body armor, these stuff are not part of the custom fit measurements
For shoes – we have let our own desires drive us to places God will not go with us.
We are holding on to anger, hate, greed that our hands are full, we cannot be able to hold up the shield of faith to stop the arrows of the devil
We have taken up pride, jealousy, love for one self that our heads have gotten so big that our helmet of salvation is having a hard time getting on.
We are holding on to too much and adding unnecessary weight that is either going to slow us down or leave us exposed.
With us holding on to all these things and carrying all these extra pounds – we are too weak to take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. We are in a battle.
Seasons will come, are you prepared to keep pushing on?
Through these seasons, we learn not to lean on our own understanding but to lean heavily on God
James 1:17 17amp Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow [a]cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes].
God has a plan for you- A great plan and a purpose. He has already provided to suit you, the armor- Now – Today He want to get you back to shape.
HGTV, Pimp my ride, wood curver? – This is the tearing down part.
Ezekiel 36:26 – 26 And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.
Man do you know how protected the heart is – You got to go through lots of body parts, veins, arteries…stuff
…. then the process of removing that old heart and replace it with a new one is delicate procedure
But sometimes we are on the operation table, we want to ask God, to stop so we can tell Him which vain/artery to not touch,
- that is my security vein Lord- you can change anything else God, but that one-
- that my wealth, that my family, that my time- Lord continue with the surgery but please Lord, let me direct you depending on how I feel today- Depending on the Season I am in right now.
Wood carver – They chop chunks before they start working on details.
The emptying part is not easy- I hate the poke, the tab, the jab, but its then that the stuff we have bottled up start spilling out, people start seeing change, its then that the healing starts – when we are done we are ready for our custom fit Armor.
You got to let God chop/cut those parts of anger, lust, worry, hate etc. – In order to fit you this armor that will protect you in all seasons
The armor sufficient, allow God to remove layers so that it can fit-– Let go and let me cloth you my child – Let go!
No matter how painful it may be- Jeremiah 29:11 – tells us – For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
The cutting is good for you.
This is our God preparing us for all seasons.
All things change, but God doesn’t – The bible says in- Hebrew 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Seasons may change, we may wake up tomorrow with a difference that we did not expect, our world could be turned upside down, But GOD!! But GOD doesn’t change.
We need no lean on our own understanding- But cling to the one that is constant- He is the same Yesterday, when you had battles, today…as you are coming through them, and tomorrow -no matter what you face. He will be the SAME!!
Malachi 3:6(AMP)- For I am the Lord, I do not change [but remain faithful to My covenant with you]; that is why you, O sons of Jacob, have not come to an end.
The reason he doesn’t change is for our benefit
If it wasn’t for God’s faithfulness, we would all be gone. My God remains the same for me and you.
He is God and can change whenever He wants, but He remains constant,
- because He know that the seasons will change,
- the battles will come, you and I will loose hope,
- He will have to be a heart surgeon if you let Him
- we will hurt,
- we will have our ups and down-
- But Him who is faithful never changes!!!
Seasons will change – Allow Him today to get you back to your custom fit size and He can cloth you with your special armor – His Armor made for you.
He will never change because He loves you and want to be you constant!!!
