CAN YOU KEEP A SECRET? Some things are just between me and the Lord. Not everything has to be shared. I know I get excited about certain things and I want to tell everybody what the Lord has spoken to me; but that’s not always wise. Mary, the mother of Jesus, kept things in her heart concerning events around Jesus, “And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.” Luke 2:18-19
And again a few years down the road, “And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” And they did not understand the saying that he spoke to them. And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart.” Luke 2:49-51
What was to become of her son? Who was He really? What would He do? She watched in awe and treasured these things in her heart. One day it would all be revealed. ““The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” Deuteronomy 29:29
Have you ever received a beautiful and awesome word from the Lord about yourself, family or children? And you were so excited about what God spoke to your heart that you wanted to share it? I have, but some things are just meant for my heart. It’s a secret between me and the Lord until the revealed time. He lets me in on things that He’s doing to give me hope about the future- especially as it pertains to my children.
The Spirit has spoken wonderful things to me about my son of how God was molding him, in a time I did not see any fruit in his life. It gave me hope. I see now the word the Lord spoke over ten years ago coming to pass. I pondered that word, prayed over it and treasured it in my heart until the appointed time. He has spoken to me about family and friends and a future plan, but these things were for my ears only.
He wants me to keep them secret, just between us until He reveals it at the appointed time. This is a relationship. I don’t tell people the secret things my husband and I whisper to one another. It’s nobody else’s business. We have our own special language, a secret love language that nobody else needs to be let in on. Same with my Savior. We have a special bond and secret language.
There’s things the Lord knows about me that I will never tell anyone. It’s just between us. I will let you in on a secret: when the Lord can trust you, He will tell you His secrets. I am not special. He will do this for you too; but you must be committed to Him and His Word. You have to wholly trust Him with your heart, family and children. You must be surrendered and fully devoted to Him. You have to spend time in His presence and seeking His face. You cannot placate Him with mere words; He knows your heart. We can always trust God- but the real question is, “Can He trust you?”#runyourrace
