SOMETIMES SILENCE GIVES CONSENT. “Beloved, while I was giving all diligence to write unto you of our common salvation, I was constrained to write unto you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered unto the saints.” Jude‬ ‭1:3‬ ASV‬‬ Jude would have liked to encourage the brethren in their faith BUT it was more needful for him to write unto them a letter of warning. Note- encouragement and warning go hand in hand. They were to contend for the faith in the midst of false teachers who were perverting God’s glorious grace. Hmmm, seems to me this false doctrine of lascivious grace has reoccurred these last days.

The KJV uses the word “lascivious” and it means “unrestrained vice of sexual freedom”. Jude denounces teachers who teach that grace allows one to continue to live in serious sin and still escape the wrath of God. So he tells the church, “CONTEND for the faith!!” The church is rampant with affirming believers living in gross sin and if YOU remain quiet about it; YOU are responsible before God for your silence. Your silence is giving consent. One man’s sin affects the whole. It’s high time the Saints of God RISE UP and call ungodliness what it is: evil. Jesus condemns a church for tolerance. Be the voice of one crying in the wilderness! Love someone enough to warn them of impending judgment and through repentance, restore them to righteousness.
