DID YOU KNOW THAT IF YOU listen to slander, then you are taking part in it? If you allow someone to gossip to you, then you are taking part in it. Whatever conversation you give your attention to, you are a part of and it’s as bad as the person who’s slandering. Proverbs tells us, “whoever utters slander is a fool” and a “dishonest man spreads strife”. Jesus said we would give an account of every idle word.
Slander is a false statement seeking to damage a person’s reputation. In every situation where slander took place in my presence, it was because the slanderer had an offense against another. If someone tells you their victim story, you would be wise to investigate the whole matter, not go off the story of an offended person. Be bold and walk away from gossip and slander, don’t give it any place. Be even bolder and tell the slanderer they are operating in sin.
Make no mistake, if they slander others they will slander you. “Whoso privily slanders his neighbor, him will I cut off; he who has a haughty look and a proud and arrogant heart I cannot and I will not tolerate.” Psalm 101:5 Stop worrying about offending others and be more concerned about offending God. “For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit.” I Peter 3:10
