SOME HAVE PITCHED THEIR TENT in Sodom far too long. Sodom was beautiful and had the best landscape, rivers and fields to feed the livestock, a city where one could acquire wealth easily. Beware the love of money, and the yearning to heap up for yourself wealth; it’s the root of all kinds of evil. However, there’s problem with living in Sodom- you begin to think like a Sodomite.
When you begin to think like a Sodomite, you begin to act like one. And when you live and act like one, you begin to encourage others to do the same. I’m not sure how, “love your enemies”, came to mean “conspire with the wicked”? For we are told, “Have NO fellowship with unrighteousness”. Which translates as: always be kind, give aid when you can, be generous; but do not have close, intimate fellowship with those who continue to practice sinful ways; even with those who claim to be a Christian. When the Word proclaims, “BAD COMPANY CORRUPTS good morals”, the Lord means what He says.
“Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.” “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty.”” II Corinthians 6:17-18
This is NT Scripture, same as the OT. We are still called to come out and be separate. It is as the days of Elijah. Israel wanted to serve the Lord and the god of the culture, Baal, at the same time. Many read the story and say to themselves, “I would never do that!” But you are doing just that.
You live like the world, with worldly friends, doing worldly things, and put the “Christian” stamp on it. I see it all the time. Lots of young people these days are very much into the gods of culture and smack a Scripture on their instagram account, as if they are pulling something over on God. Their lives reflect nothing of the God of the Bible. The Lord is separating the wheat from the chaff. Choose wisely whom you will serve. If the god of culture, then just be all in. Stop deceiving yourself. If you will serve the Lord, then cleanse yourself of everything else and serve Him.
“And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.”
I Kings 18:21
