A LOT OF PENTECOSTAL TYPES, think that if you just speak in tongues and fall out under the power of the Spirit; your life will change. And I tell you, this is a good start. However, most of Paul’s letters to the churches were hammered out because of their inability to live righteously EVEN having spoken in tongues. I went to a church were most spoke in tongues and were still mean, carnal people. Look at the things Paul said to the Corinthians, who all spoke in tongues: “those who do **these things (1 Cor 6:9-10) shall not inherit the kingdom of God”; you are taking the Lord’s supper in an unworthy manner, there’s sexual immorality and idolatry among you, you’re suing your brother; you don’t have the mind of Christ, your freedom is causing your brother to sin, food offered to idols has demons behind it, and the list goes on. The Apostle Peter said to believers: “Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the WORD, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” I Peter 2:1-3 NKJV The Spirit didn’t come just so you could speak in tongues and prophecy. He came to give you the POWER to become sons and daughters of the Most High. The Spirit wills for you to crucify your flesh and it’s carnal desires. The Spirit enables you to obey God’s Word, so that you can actually not sin and walk in His righteousness. The Spirit doesn’t “heal” your relationships; He enables you to repent and forgive each other. The Spirit softens your heart in order for you to then extend grace. There’s work that you have to put in. Submit to God in every area. Renew your mind to the Word of God. Resist the devil and your carnal flesh. Put the POWER of the Spirit to work in your life by obeying the Word of God.
