IF YOU DO NOT STAND FIRM in faith, you will not stand at all. “And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah.
If you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all.'”” Isaiah 7:9 Ahaz, who was greatly alarmed, and who trembled at the formidable power of Syria and Israel united, received the annunciation of the prophet Isaiah with much distrust. He was anxious about the means of defense, but did not trust in the promise of God. Isaiah threatens Ahaz, that if he did not believe him; if he did not put confidence in God, and His promises, he would not be protected.
This, therefore, is an exhortation to confide solely in the promises of God. Ahaz went against the prophet’s warning, trusting in his own limited understanding and destruction ensued. These words ring true today: if you do not stand planted in faith, you will not stand. If you are not rooted in the promises of Scripture, engrafted in His Word, planted firmly in the House of God; you will not stand at all.
There is nothing to fear, and if you trust God, you will be delivered. The LORD is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? Though war rises against me, in this will I be confident.
Who/whom do you trust? Your own understanding? The government? Shaking reveals one thing: those who are firmly rooted and those who’s roots have no depth. The hulling process has begun.
