THE FOOL RETURNS TO HIS FOLLY. Perhaps you know this Proverb better by its first and more descriptive part, “As a dog returns to its vomit”. I have never known anyone who was truly surrendered and submitted to the Lord to not be able to overcome their flesh and sin.
I have seen slow learners, but they were still moving towards that ultimate goal. But someone who’s theme song is, “She’ll be coming round the mountain” and continually moves in a circle, returning to their vomit and folly has not ever truly surrendered. I have seen them dabble in obedience and dive in to disobedience.
They are “outer court” people, hanging around the things of God, but never bowing down in humility before His throne of grace and surrendering their all to His glory. These people refuse to renew their mind only to take advantage of others. They say things like, “I can’t!” Instead of, “I won’t”. Lying to themselves of who they are and of God’s ability to restore and renew. They are doomed to repeat their folly because their heart is divided and their mind they refuse to renew. IF you would obey all the Bible commands you, THEN you will get the Bible results and you do not have to be considered a fool.
“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry…. in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,”
