“THE LORD UPHOLDS all those [of His own] who are falling and raises up all those who are bowed down.” Psalm 145:14 The Lord upholds all that fall – The word used here is a participle, literally, “The Lord sustaining;” that is, the Lord is a Sustainer or Upholder of all that fall. And raises up all those that be bowed down – The word here also is a participle: “he is lifting up;” that is, he is a lifter up.
The idea is that when the burdens of life cause you to fall or weigh you down so heavily that you cannot get up, He lifts up His own. Paul said, “His strength is made perfect in my weakness”. Hear this, “He will never give us more than we can bear” is not Scriptural. I don’t know who said that, but it’s untrue and they twisted Scripture. We often are in crushing circumstances, but it’s never more than HE can handle. God is able to strengthen us so that we can bear those burdens without being crushed under them. The Lord is my Sustainer, not in my strength but in His. He lifts me up when I’m bowed down with affliction and adversity.
When I feel like I’m in one of those car crushing machines and there’s no hope and no future; He gives me strength to see clearly the path He’s set for me. He picks me up, feeds me with food conveniently for me, refreshes my soul and sets me back on my way. Are you weary friend? Are you feeling crushed? The Lord is near to all who call upon Him in truth. Lift up your eyes to the hills! Your help comes from the Lord. Call upon Him and He will sustain you. You will get through this in His strength. Lean on your Sustainer. #runyourrace
