Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying “Thus far the Lord has helped us.”
1 Samuel 7:12
It’s been a difficult season for me, I’ve struggled to stay consistent in my studies and duties and it seems like God is nowhere to be found. I’ve been fighting the temptation to stay distracted and busy, when what I truly need is to rest in the Lord. This morning I opened up my journal and began looking back, remembering all He’s done. There was so many answered prayers, so many words of encouragement for myself and others, so many instances where God moved miraculously that I began to weep. My journal is full of reminders of how far God has brought me and my family, and just as Samuel placed a stone to remember what God had done thus far, so I continue to fill these pages with the wonders of God at work. In difficult times I look back and remember what He’s done; His faithfulness, His goodness, His mercy and grace abundant. Thus far the Lord has helped me, but the journey is long and the calling is difficult. When the enemy whispers lies and discouragement, when my heart questions where He is and why He seems distant, I will remember the Lord and all that He’s done.
And I said, “This is my anguish;
But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.”
I will remember the works of the Lord;
Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.
Psalm 77:10-11
