MY TIMES ARE IN YOUR HANDS. Charles Spurgeon has a beautiful sermon on Psalm 31:15, “My Times are in Thy Hands”. “My times are in Your hand; Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, And from those who persecute me.” To me, it is one of the most encouraging and securing Scriptures.
I believe and am fully convinced that my life is in His hands. He knows the number of my days and I will not die until He says. No man, no plague, no catastrophe, no demon in hell can take my life without His approval. He set the sun in the sky, can He not number and secure my days? Not a hair on my head falls without Him knowing. How can I not trust Him with my life? I don’t live life willy-nilly or without aim. I am not careless or carefree. I live a surrendered and obedient life unto the Lord and I have placed my life in His hands for Him to do with what He will. I trust His timeline for my life.
Life is precious and short compared to eternity. The psalmist says, “So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalms 90:12 Live with purpose. Although He knows my times, I do not. Today may be required of me. We are not promised tomorrow. In this, I trust Him. Death is not the end for those in Christ. It’s the entry into His kingdom. Whom shall I fear? What are you doing with the time you’ve been given? However, this promise is only for those who obey Him.
How are your times in His hands if you have not submitted them to Him? If you live foolishly for yourself, you shall die for yourself. You don’t get the promises of the Almighty if you live disobedient to His Word. “Do not be overly wicked, Nor be foolish: Why should you die before your time?” Ecclesiastes 7:17 Why would you expect that your times are in His hands when your choices are not?
If you are not submitted to His authority, you are living for yourself and are subject to destruction. The wages of sin is death. Can God spare your life even if you do wicked? Yes. When I was young and foolish, living a careless life of drugs, alcohol and sexual promiscuity; I overdosed. I was not raised to know the Lord, but it just so happened the previous year because of several circumstances that I read the book of Revelation and it revealed Jesus to me. In my moment of death, I called out to Him and said, “Please save me! I don’t want to go to hell”. At least I knew where my soul was headed in that moment. He intervened and spared me.
Foolishness almost took my life. Now is the time for God’s people to rise up and proclaim truth. Today is the day for boldness in the face of adversity. The mockers and scoffers are here and will increase in the coming days. What are you fearful of? Why will you let a virus stop you? We cannot back down because the world wants us to shut up. The church gathers.
Where are you? Online services was only meant to be a temporary life line. A time of life support until you could start breathing and moving on your own. The first thing the dr. wants you do after coming off life support is to eat solid food and start moving. Otherwise, you don’t get enough nutrients and your muscles will atrophy. Eventually, your physical body will shut down. As it is in the natural, so goes it in the spiritual. You get weaker when you don’t gather physically with the brethren, not stronger. When you remain silent to the world, you get weaker.
Disobedience produces rotten and decaying fruit. Do you believe your times are in His hands? “For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?””Esther 4:14 NKJVWouldn’t you rather die being bold for the Lord than to live a life shut in and silent?
You will give an account to the Lord for your disobedience. Read about how all the apostles died. They all died a martyr’s death, except John. The apostles didn’t die early or “before their time”, they died in His hands and in His time.
The wicked tried in multiple ways to kill the apostle John, but he wouldn’t die so they sent him to be an isolated prisoner on the island of Patmos where under the inspiration of the Spirit, he wrote the book of Revelation. History records he died an old man. My testimony will not be that I ran and hid and was silent. My testimony will be a lived a life outrageously and boldly for Jesus, even in the face of adversity, for my times are in His hands. #runyourrace
