GROSS ARE THE ABSURDITIES OF UNBELIEF. The Greek Word “believe”, is “pistis” rendered “to have faith in, to rely on, to obey”. It is not a static word, but like most words of faith it is alive and active. Believe has a plan and a purpose. Believe has follow through and follow up. Believe and obedience are inseparable.
The Exodus generation died in the wilderness, not because they didn’t believe IN God, for they knew He existed. They heard His voice and saw His miracles first hand. They most assuredly believed IN God. They just didn’t BELIEVE Him. They didn’t take God at His Word. “Then they despised the pleasant land; They did not believe His word,” Psalms 106:24
They didn’t trust and rely on Him to bring them through a dry and desert place. They didn’t obey His Word, but rather bucked against His ways. They committed sexual immorality and their corpses rotted in the desert. They murmured and complained against God’s servant, Moses, and many died in one day.
God delayed and so they made a golden idol to worship, not unlike most people that take matters into their own hands. ALL these things were written down for our example, “For indeed we have had the glad tidings [Gospel of God] proclaimed to us just as truly as they [the Israelites of old did when the good news of deliverance from bondage came to them]; but the message they heard did not benefit them, because it was not mixed with faith by those who heard it; neither were they united in faith with the ones [Joshua and Caleb] who heard (did believe).” Hebrews 4:2 AMPC Out of over a million Israelites who came out of Egypt, only 2 were permitted into the promised land. Let that sink in. Narrow is the way and few there are that find it. If you truly believe God, you WILL obey His Word. #runyourrace
