I HAVE LONG DESIRED AND expected this happy hour. “I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.” Psalms 16:8 What is the psalmists claim? Is it that because the Lord is at his right hand he shall always be rich? No. Because he has set the Lord at his right hand he shall not taste of death? Get sick? Be injured? Have others slander him? Or have his best life now? No.
The psalmist’s great claim is, “I shall not be moved.” Yet, what does this mean? To be able to stand firmly fixed on the Rock of my salvation and have my eyes on the prize with steadfast convictions, with steadfast purposes, with steadfast actions- moving continuously in one direction, “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13
Did you know the Apostle Andrew was crucified on an x-shaped cross in Greece? After seven soldiers whipped Andrew severely, they tied his body to the cross with cords to prolong his agony. His followers reported that, when he was led toward the cross, Andrew saluted it in these words: “I have long desired and expected this happy hour. The cross has been consecrated by the body of Christ hanging on it.” He continued to preach to his tormentors for two days until he died.
This is what is meant by, “I shall not be moved”. No man, and certainly no devil can stop me from preaching God’s holy Word. My convictions are steadfast. My course is set. My life is not my own. “I am part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have Holy Spirit power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I am a disciple of His. I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed. My present makes sense. My future is secure.”I shall not be moved. #runyourrace
