WE ARE ONLY AS VALUABLE AS we allow the Master Potter to make us. Jeremiah was told to go to a potter’s house where he watched a potter fashioning a vessel out of clay. Because the vessel was not suitable for what the potter intended, he had to remold it into something other than what he had first designed. ““O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the LORD. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!” Jeremiah 18:6
There’s a few important principles in this parable for God’s work in our lives. First, our submission to God as the One who molds both our character and our service to Him determines to a large extent what He can do with us. God will not go against your free will! Are you mold-able? Are you shape-able?
Let me pose it this way, are you able to be shaped? Or are you stiff necked and rebellious, constantly bucking the Master’s hand? Second, a lack of fervent obedience to Jesus as King and Lord will frustrate His original purpose for you. He has a good plan and purpose for your life, but He will allow you to go your own way and do your own thing.
However, you will reap the consequences of your own path. Enter the prodigal. I have seen this played out many times. Third, God remains free to change His intentions for our lives, depending on whether or not we respond to His goodness and repent, continue to read Ch. 18. We can be vessels of honor or vessels of dishonor.
Are you allowing the Potter to shape and transform you into a vessel of honor? I know it hurts when He smooths out those bumps and it’s painful, but you will come forth a vessel fit for the Master’s purpose if you remain fixed.
Lastly, it is important to note in the above scripture that God was dealing with the whole nation of Israel. If the nation would repent, He would change His course of judgment. But if not, that nation can only expect a plucking up, a pulling down and destruction.
Take note friend. Enter America. Without a national repentance, a turning away from all that offends God; we can only expect destruction. I fear our course is only destruction. ““I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
The clauses are here connected as cause and effect. The second is the promise, which will not fail if the command of the first be observed. The union then, and all that follows from it, is placed within the power of the human will. All is contained in the words, “Abide in Me.” He who obeys this command has Christ abiding in him, and is a fruitful branch of the true vine.
A branch that falls to the ground, and no longer abides in the vine as a living part of it, cannot bear fruit, so neither can ye except you abide and remain in Jesus and His word. To be sure, you cannot bear the fruit the Father, the vinedresser and Master Potter, looks for, and by which He will be glorified. #runyourrace
