ANYONE REMEMBER THIS OLD HYMN?
“Oh, victory in Jesus, my Savior forever
He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood
He loved me ‘ere I knew Him and all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood”
Victory in Jesus. There’s no victory outside of Jesus. The world and even many in the church offer us a pseudo-victory, which is not a true victory but only a coping mechanism to get through this life. I will never change my tune. Everything can be overcome by the power of the Holy Spirit. I will say that again for those in the back, EVERYTHING can be overcome by the blood of the Lamb.
Any belief that your past damaged you too much to be healed is a lie. Any belief that you are too broken-hearted to be made whole is a lie. Anyone who tells you that “you will always be this way”, is deceiving you and the truth is not in them. Where’s the hope in the plan that says, “You will always be an addict. Deal with it”? There is no hope in that plan. There is no hope in just coping with a broken heart in this life. Theres no hope in remaining a victim. There’s no hope in a plan that keeps you in bondage to that plan. The world’s offer of “hope” is hopelessness.
The problem with many Christian’s today is that they do not actually believe that God’s Word is alive and active and has healing properties. They have put their hope in worldly philosophy and psychology and mixed it with a little bit of Jesus. There’s no true hope in that. Most do not want to believe they can overcome their past through the blood of Christ because the power to overcome escapes them. Many refuse to repent and just believe. Most will not submit themselves to the altar to be a living sacrifice and renew their mind to God’s Word. Many will not sit still long enough to let the Spirit administer His healing. Why? In my 28 year walk with the Lord I have seen a few things:
First, people want a pill to make them feel better. They want the quick and painless route. They want you to give them something immediately to take away the pain. In some respects, they are lazy and unwilling to do what the Lord says to do. These people “try” the Lord, and when there’s not an immediate victory; they quit. Second, man believes he can heal himself.
A lot of people have more faith in themselves and their plan, than the Word of God. This is a love of self more than a love of God. They arrogantly think God needs their help. Third, and I have seen this multiple times over; people will run everywhere for help instead of to the Master. As the old saying goes, “they run to the phone and not the throne”.
Four, they do not want to repent from their sins. They like the sinful life and will not submit to the authority of the Lord. They believe the lie that they are good just as they are. Fifth, (and this might just be the strongest one) people refuse His help by remaining a victim. They like the victim life and the “pity me” mentality. This is their identity and you had better not mess with their victimhood identify. The claws will come out. How dare you tell them they can overcome and have victory! They are only known by their victimhood and they play it up well.
I and anyone else can help you only so far. And if I am not leading you to Jesus and His victory; I am leading you astray. My help is hopeless. You must sit at the Master’s feet and be healed. You must be in prayer continually. You must submit yourself as a living sacrifice and be seasoned with fire. You must renew your mind to the Word of God. You must be washed by the water of the Word until you are made whole. Then you have to appropriate it by faith and walk it out.
Friend, the victory you seek is only found in Jesus. Do things the Bible way, get the Bible results. I will never budge on this. You can overcome ANY and ALL things. You do not have to live in bondage to man’s plan and remain in a hopeless situation. Jesus offers you the only real and true hope. In Him is the abundance of peace and joy. In Christ alone is the overcoming life the world longs for, but can only offer a false and flawed hope, a deceptive peace and short-lived joy.
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors (The Greek here is one word and means “super-conquerors”) through Him who loved us.” Romans 8:35-37
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
