I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
III John 1:4 NKJV
This verse describes the single greatest thing that you can do for your pastor: walk in truth. Walk in the path that they are desperately trying to lead you down. I find more often than not that true pastors desire you to have a relationship with God far more than you do, they want nothing more than to see you walking in close, intimate relationship with God. Nothing brings a pastor greater joy than to see you walking in truth! “Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account” (Heb. 13:17). The Lord has promised to raise up shepherds after His own heart, and this is the heart of God: that you would walk in His truths.
Do you not know that the promised land is up ahead? Yet many choose instead to focus on the giants that roam the land (Num. 13:32), they fear men rather than God and choose not to pursue what God has promised to them. Hear this! Sitting in His presence is more glorious than anything you could ever obtain this side of heaven. Walking closely with the Lord is more rewarding, more fulfilling, more than anything you could imagine.
The blessings of God (remission of sins, a changed heart and life, knowledge of God, joy, peace, the hope and confidence of eternal life) are far above all the enjoyment this world has to offer. YOU determine how closely you walk with Him, He stands with open arms waiting for you. Do you not realize the magnitude of what it means to have intimate relationship with God? It can’t be expressed with words! Like the father of the prodigal son, the Lord is waiting for you to return to Him (Luke 15:20).
