STAY ON THAT WALL! Yesterday, there was a discussion about Nehemiah and the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem. The people of God, every family, had an area of the wall and portion to build and to protect. Nehemiah gave them spears, swords and bows, “Those who built on the wall, and those who carried burdens, loaded themselves so that with one hand they worked at construction, and with the other held a weapon. Nehemiah 4:17
This endeavor could not be done by one man, it would take all the remnant and every family had to do their part. The enemy came in the form of government officials. Sanballat and Tobiah mocked the Jews. They mocked God. They used fear and intimidation to get the people to come off the walls and stop building. Sound familiar?
There’s nothing new under the sun. Satan has no new strategies, just old ones that work time and time again. There is a remnant and we must stay on the wall! The war that’s being waged against us is a war of words. It’s mocking, jeering, virtue signaling; words of fear and intimidation. It’s the spirit of Sanballat. In its 2700 years, the Great Wall of China was infiltrated by one man- Ghengis Khan. And he infiltrated it not once, but multiple times.
How did he do this? History records that he lured soldiers from their watch, created diversions and had collected information from traveling businessmen. Let history be a lesson. You need eyes to see and ears to hear. The enemy doesn’t play fair. He lies, cheats, manipulates, threatens, and intimidates. The church is in dire need. Local churches are closing at an alarming rate. Pastors are bowing down to government intimidation. But, there’s a remnant still building. We need you on the wall building- preach the Word! Your church needs the watchmen to guard against the enemy- Pray and Worship! Gather with the brethren- this is and always has been the expression of the Church Body.
Side note- if you don’t like gathering to worship, you won’t like heaven. If you come down of those walls, the enemy has an open gate. The church’s very existence depends on courageous men and women. In the words of Nehemiah, “And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles, to the leaders, and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”” Nehemiah 4:14 NKJV““Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”Matthew 10:27-28 NKJV#runyourrace
