THE IRON FLOATED. The story of the lost axe head illustrates God’s interest and care in what might appear to be an insignificant matter. “But as one was felling his beam, the axhead fell into the water; and he cried, Alas, my master, for it was borrowed! The man of God said, Where did it fall? When shown the place, Elisha cut off a stick and threw it in there, and the iron floated.” 2 Kings 6:5-6
An iron axe head at that time was a very expensive tool, and this poor man felt keenly responsible for the borrowed tool. What does this miracle show us? It reveals God’s heart of compassion and that He watches over every little area of our life with great detail. He cares about those things that are insignificant to others but are of great value to us. His eye is always on His people with care and concern. He is waiting to move on our behalf, if we would just ask.
Ask my family, I always ask God to reveal to me where those things are that I have misplaced, usually my keys. Within a few minutes the Spirit shows me and I go directly to where they are. James tells us, “you have not because you ask not; and you don’t receive because you do not ask in faith and you ask with wrong motives”. A few lessons come to mind: are you asking God for His help? Or doing things in your own strength? Are your motives pure or selfish? Is your faith in God, or something else? Do you believe our Lord cares about the insignificant things? Do you trust Him and will you continue to believe even if He doesn’t give you the answer you want?#runyourrace
