WEAKNESS

WEAKNESS

IN OUR EGO DRIVEN CULTURE, we are very apt at pumping up people’s strengths and are negligent of their weaknesses. I get it. We want to encourage people and not discourage them. We want to focus on the good, not the bad. These things are true.

Yet, when it comes to your spiritual walk, your enemy is not going after your strengths, he’s not going to attack you in the places you are strong. Nope. He attacks you where you are weak. He attacks those areas that are not covered but rather exposed. Think about any kind of sports team, or sport. A good coach will have you study your opponent(s) and he will look for their strengths and seek to exploit their weaknesses.

Ask anyone who has done a sport. Ask any boxer, MMA fighter or wrestler how they overcame their opponent and they will tell you the same thing: they found where their opponent was weak and exploited it. Guess what, your adversary is a master strategist. The devil has been watching humanity for thousands of years and he knows human’s weaknesses: love of money, loss of control, pride, fame, cares of this world, people pleasing, fear of loss, fear of rejection, fear of death, and the list goes on. We are told that we ought not to give the devil too much credit, but we need to consider him a worthy opponent.

You might be playing around, but he is not. Satan knows his time is short and he seeks to kill, steal and destroy. Therefore, you need to have your wits about you at all times. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” I Peter‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

And who is he seeking? The weakest, the undisciplined, the disobedient, the one who strays from the pack, those who don’t cover their crack, the ones who dabble in occult practices and say ignorant and foolish things like, “I can do what I want! I am redeeming this idol”.

I am talking about yoga. I have gotten in more arguments with Christians who do yoga and defend it. It is idol worship. It is not just stretching. It is not benign. You are opening the door for Satan. Why would you play with an ouija board? You wouldn’t, but when you mess with occult practices under the guise of “Christian”, you are messing with demons.

There is pride on you that you think you can tangle with a demon on his turf and overcome. Look at what Paul told the Corinthian church, that disobedience opens the door for the enemy to come into your life. “For to this end I also wrote, that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things. lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.”‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭2:9, 11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We should not be ignorant of our enemy. What’s your weakness? You better stop magnifying all your strengths and covering up and sweeping under the rug your weaknesses. You are given the enemy a foothold. You have to deal with those weak areas. Allow the Lord to expose those areas that Satan attacks. For me, a weak area is rejection. It stems from my childhood and I have carried it with me a long time. Those feelings of rejection cause me to throw myself a pity party and revert into a fetal position, kicking everyone out and hiding myself a way.

It is definitely a place in my life the enemy attacks over and over. But once I became aware that I was weak in the area, I began to recognized the enemy was attacking me and I could then use God’s Word to overcome Satan’s lies and tactics.

Does this mean Satan stopped attacking me with rejection? No. It just means I now recognize my enemy is attacking with rejection, I can defend myself and use my weapons of warfare. But if you do not know those weak areas, you are going to continually get kidney punched. Soon enough you will get kidney failure. You over stated your strengths and did not guard your weakness. Pride crept in. The enemy’s #1 tool is deception. If he can get you to believe the lie, especially about yourself and puff you up; you will eventually be led away. #runyourrace
