TEND TO YOUR GARDEN. Weeds! Ugh! It is so hard to keep the flower beds free from weeds! They grow fast. They choke out the flowers. They will take over the whole yard if left to themselves and they have thick, deep roots.
The Bible speaks of a certain type of root in Hebrews 12:15, “Exercise foresight and be on the watch to look [after one another], to see that no one falls back from and fails to secure God’s grace in order that no root of resentment (rancor, bitterness, or hatred) shoots forth and causes trouble and bitter torment, and the many become contaminated and defiled by it–” KJV calls it a “root of bitterness”, this “weed” is much more than troublesome; it not only defiles the person but if left alone to grow, it will contaminate others and choke out any budding fruit.
It is a deep-seeded resentment in one’s heart, an attitude of bitter resentment toward God, your past, another person, or circumstance. As it begins to grow and develop, it spreads negativity which then produces chaos and confusion. It clouds your ability to hear from God or fully understand His Word. The author of Hebrews tells us to “look diligently” otherwise known as “tend your garden”, lest you fail to secure God’s grace. A real and severe warning. We may not always see it, so we have to allow others to speak into our lives and receive correction. Do not delay! Pull that root out fast before it spreads. #runyourrace
