I’ll do this when….I know people who have said this very thing, “I am going to bless you mightily when I win the lottery!” Do you know anyone like this? Or how about this, “When my life is straightened out, I will help you.” You’ve probably heard something similar. I am telling you right now, if you won’t do it now, you won’t do it “when”.
If you are not generous now, you will not be generous when (and if) you receive more money. If you won’t help now, you will not help “when”. If you won’t serve, give, attend, bless now; you will not serve, give, attend and bless “when”. Sure, you cannot pay for everyone’s groceries who are in the store now, but you can still help the guy behind you in line.
Maybe you can’t give $1000 to a poor single mom, but you can give your time and perhaps a small contribution. You can still bless someone even if your life is a mess. You can watch kids, buy a cup of coffee, clean a house, mow a lawn, build a relationship, have a Bible study, serve the brethren, make a cake, read a story, sacrificially give and the list goes on. It takes zero talent and zero dollars to be a faithful servant of God.
What are you waiting for? This is coming from a greedy heart. I have found that the top two things people are stingy with are their time and money. Some will give time, but are stingy with their money. Some will give money, but are stingy with their time. Freely you have received, freely give. “And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness (which is greed)” “The greedy bring ruin to their households” Proverbs 15:27“The greedy stir up conflict, but those who trust in the Lord will prosper” Proverbs 28:25 Jesus admonished the widow for sacrificial giving.
If Christ gave us His very life and endured pain and suffering for our sake, can we not sacrifice ourselves for others? Greed will shut your out of heaven. Greed displays a corrupt heart, one that’s not been renewed by God. A heart made new has taken on the same heart that was in Christ.
Here’s what I know to be true, when you pour out into another’s life, God will take care of you supernaturally. (Read 1 Kings 17) But when you hoard up for yourself, you will get nothing. “Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”” Luke 12:16-21 NKJV“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”” Luke 6:38 NKJV
Jesus tells us that whatever we give out, we get back supernaturally from the Lord. Give time, get supernatural time. Give money, get supernatural money. Give blessings, get supernatural blessings. Give mercy, get supernatural mercy. Give forgiveness, get supernatural forgiveness. But give greed, get supernatural greed. Give judgment, get supernatural judgment.
Give hate and cruelty, get supernatural hate and cruelty. God will not be mocked; whatever we sow, we reap. Some of you are in lack because you are not following this supernatural principle. You don’t give out time and get back money. The fruit is the result of the seed. You don’t understand God’s ways. You cannot afford to do it “when”. Start doing it now so that God can bless the works of your hand. #runyourrace
