Wish For The Day

Wish for the Day

My time when Matt was in Egypt- wishing for the day to end.

Acts 27:27-31Amplified Bible (AMP)

“The fourteenth night had come and we were drifting and being driven about in the Adriatic Sea, when about midnight the sailors began to suspect that they were drawing near to some land.

So they took soundings and found twenty fathoms, and a little farther on they sounded again and found fifteen fathoms. Then fearing that we might fall off [our course] onto rocks, they dropped four anchors from the stern and kept wishing for daybreak to come.

30 And as the sailors were trying to escape [secretly] from the ship and were lowering the small boat into the sea, pretending that they were going to lay out anchors from the bow,

31 Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, Unless these men remain in the ship, you cannot be saved.”

praying and waiting

Picture it.

You cannot keep going this way. You are on a collision course with disaster. You are going to crash.

You cannot go back. The storm will overtake you.

You cannot jump ship. You will lose your life.

The ONLY choice: Drop anchor and wish for the day! This is FOR SOMEBODY TONIGHT!

  1.  You cannot keep going this way. If you are not living according to the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, you are going the wrong way and are on a collision course with disaster.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles- “You’re going the WRONG WAY”

Romans 8:5-9 “For those who are according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires set their minds on and [a]pursue those things which gratify the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit and are controlled by the desires of the Spirit set their minds on and [b]seek those things which gratify the [Holy] Spirit.

6 Now the mind of the flesh is death. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever].

7 [That is] because the mind of the flesh [with its carnal thoughts and purposes] is hostile to God, for it does not submit itself to God’s Law; indeed it cannot.

8 So then those who are living the life of the flesh [catering to the appetites and impulses of their carnal nature] cannot please or satisfy God, or be acceptable to Him.

9 But you are not living the life of the flesh, you are living the life of the Spirit, if the [Holy] Spirit of God [really] dwells within you [directs and controls you]. But if anyone does not possess the [Holy] Spirit of Christ, he is none of His [he does not belong to Christ, is not truly a child of God].

14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”

People get so stinky when you say, “Just obey God”.

OK, I’m not saying “OBEY”, I am saying “BE LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT.” vs. 14

Do not think that this course will have a good outcome.

Stop deceiving yourself into thinking “It’s going to all work out”

Neglect or apathy can be fatal. NEGLECT AND APATHY CAN BE FATAL! (spiritual walk)

1 Corinthians 9:27King James Version (KJV)

” But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”

Paul understood that if he did not live according to the Spirit and crucify his flesh, even though he preached to others, he could become a castaway. (a shipwrecked person) WILSON!

You might find that you are doing OK RIGHT NOW, but the water is getting shallower and shallower; YOU ARE GOING TO HIT THE ROCKS and suffer loss.

You CANNOT be double-minded. One day this, the next day that. One day in. One day out. One day yes. The next day no. Let your YES be YES and your NO be NO.  YOU ARE UNSTABLE IN ALL YOUR WAYS.

  1. You cannot go back. The storm will overtake you.

You have come TOO FAR to go back! There is NOTHING for you back there anyway.

Forget the past. If you don’t forget the past, you will not be able to move on into your future.

Philippians 3:13-14

I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.

Isaiah 43:18-19

Do not [earnestly] remember the former things; neither consider the things of old.

19 Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

The past is BEHIND you. He is not a YESTERDAY God. He is a TODAY, RIGHT NOW God.

You are not your past.

You cannot do ANYTHING to change your past!

Ex: Sexually molested when I was 9.  I thought it was my fault. WHY does this keep hurting me? Am I not forgiving?? God revealed my hurt fueled my strength.

Lived in Survivor mode for most of my life. THOSE THINGS ARE NOT YOUR FAULT!

Remember Lot’s wife?? She longed for the good old days in Sodom.  IT’S VOMIT!

  1. You cannot jump ship! You will lose your life.

Hold fast to your FAITH IN GOD!

praying and waiting

1 Timothy 1:18-19Amplified Bible (AMP)

” This charge and admonition I commit in trust to you, Timothy, my son, [a]in accordance with prophetic intimations which I formerly received concerning you, so that inspired and aided by them you may wage the good warfare,

19 Holding fast to faith and having a good (clear) conscience. By rejecting and thrusting from them [their conscience], some individuals have made shipwreck of their faith.”

Hebrews 2:1Amplified Bible (AMP)

” Since all this is true, we ought to pay much closer attention than ever to the truths that we have heard, lest in any way we drift past [them] and slip away.”

The Greek word for “slip” is pararreo and it has nautical overtones, a when a ship drifts past the harbor to shipwreck.

Negligence and carelessness about our relationship with Jesus can be fatal.

There is a VICTORY waiting for you!

Stay on the boat! Don’t abandon your faith!

DON’T abandon that dream God gave you!

Don’t abandon that vision God gave you!

STAY ON THE BOAT. ALL is NOT lost. It MAY APPEAR that all is lost, BUT IT IS NOT. It only APPEARS that way.

  1. Drop anchor and wish for the day!

WAIT AND PRAY for God to move.

Do you notice a theme in the following scriptures??

Psalm 95:7King James Version (KJV)

For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today if ye will hear his voice,

Deuteronomy 28:1, 13King James Version (KJV)

And it shall come to pass, if thou shall hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day, and are careful to observe them.

Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. THIS DAY!

Matthew 6:11New King James Version (NKJV)

Give us this day our daily bread.

Are you only praying once a week? What about the other 6 days of bread??

Luke 9:23New King James Version (NKJV)

23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily,[a] and follow Me. THIS DAY TAKE UP YOUR CROSS! Read this again tomorrow. SAME

It seems that scripture presents us choosing to serve Him every day as a new day.

Every day we have a choice- CHOOSE LIFE or CHOOSE DEATH

The choice to deny ourselves and our own selfish desires and walk in the Spirit must be made daily!

There is wisdom in storing for the future, but we are not promised tomorrow. ONLY THIS DAY.

praying and waiting

Romans 12:12Amplified Bible (AMP)

Rejoice and exult in hope; be steadfast and patient in suffering and tribulation; be constant in prayer.

This “constant in prayer” is a present, continuous tense of a very strong word. It implies persistence, perseverance and insistence.

Isaiah 62:6-7Amplified Bible (AMP)

“I have set watchmen upon your walls, O Jerusalem, who will never hold their peace day or night; you who [are His servants and by your prayers] put the Lord in remembrance [of His promises], keep not silence,

7 And give Him no rest until He establishes Jerusalem and makes her a praise in the earth.”

NEW JERUSALEM-Christ’s kingdom and reign

Isaiah 64:4Amplified Bible (AMP)

“For from of old no one has heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who works and shows Himself active on behalf of him who [earnestly] waits for Him.”

Psalm 27:14 [Full Chapter]

Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.

Isaiah 30:18 And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]!

Isaiah 49:23 And kings shall be your foster fathers and guardians, and their queens your nursing mothers. They shall bow down to you with their faces to the earth and lick up the dust of your feet; and you shall know that I am the Lord; for they shall not be put to shame who wait for, look for, hope for, and expect Me.

To wait on the Lord is ACTIVE, not passive. Waiting ALWAYS entails EXPECTING.

You’re not going anywhere until God speaks and says it’s safe.
