YOU CANNOT SANCTIFY YOURSELF. Discipline is good and right, but you cannot cleanse yourself. No matter what you stop doing, or start doing on your own merits; you cannot cleanse yourself. No matter how many rules you follow or how strict your boundaries, you cannot cleanse yourself. Only the WORD OF GOD can sanctify you. “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,” Ephesians 5:25-26
The Lord is sanctifying to Himself a holy church, without spot or wrinkle, not for your benefit, but for His. Your job is just to come under His authority and into agreement with His Word and Spirit. You cannot sanctify yourself. That being said, you also cannot sanctify anyone else. You can have a God complex and think you’re the one who’s going to sanctify that person. Nope. It cannot happen. You cannot save them, nor can you sanctify them. You cannot even save yourself.
Oswald Chambers said that we can interfere with God’s plan for another by thinking that WE know what’s best for them. We try to alleviate another’s suffering or pain, when God is trying to produce fruit in them; He’s trying to SANCTIFY them and you’re interfering. You are to lead others to be reliant on JESUS; not themselves, not YOU or anyone else. Let God have His way, and you get out of the way.
Your ego will destroy you and others. #runyourrace
