WHAT YOU SPEAK IN secret will become known to all. There were some people who were trying to catch and snare my husband to speak evil of others. So on several different occasions (we found out after the fact) they invited us to meet with them and they unknowingly recorded our conversation, seemingly to trap my husband in his words. Let’s forget that this is against Wa State law, but it is definitely against the law of God and is an evil practice. It is sin to try to ensnare another. T
he Bible says that the trap you sent for someone else, you will fall in yourself. (This is not the same as recording a conversation to legally protect yourself). My husband doesn’t say things without thinking them through. He has a good bridle on his mouth and doesn’t share information about others with anyone. He doesn’t fly off the handle and speak in anger. He operates his mouth with self-control. They were unable to trap him, but still lied to others about what he said. I was there as a witness. He did not sin with his mouth in secret. What he said in secret, he would say in public.
Here’s what Scripture records, “For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.” Luke 12:2-3 NKJVIn other places, we are told to speak the truth and proclaim the gospel loudly. In this verse specifically, Christ gives us a warning. There’s no use concealing anything, for all will one day come out.
Therefore, give fearless utterance to always speak the truth. What our Lord says is, “Beware the leaven of hypocrisy. Beware those who have corrupt and evil hearts, but speak smooth and charming words. However, whether you beware or not, know that all that is now secret will one day be manifested.” What if every conversation you had was being recorded? I’m not talking about the government- I’m talking about God.
God is recording our lives, therefore He is recording our words and conversations. In fact, Jesus said that every idle word we will give an account to Him. Every secret conversation is being recorded and one day will be shown before all. As Creator of man, He has this right and He is just in His punishment. Perhaps if you lived with this knowledge at the forefront of your mind, you would change your words. You wouldn’t speak evil, even in the dark places. When no one else is listening, He hears
. I’ve had to repent of my words over the years and plead the blood of Jesus over those words. I’ve spoken in anger and had to repent because I would never want to hurt the person I talked bad about, nor would I want them to hear those words I shamefully and ill-advisedly spoke. I’ve gotten caught up in evil conversations and malicious gossip that if that person others were slandering knew I said those things about them, I would be ashamed. I have at times feared the crowd more than I feared the Lord. Jesus gives us a warning: be careful with your words. If you wouldn’t say it to someone’s face, then don’t say it.
If you don’t want someone to know that you said it, then don’t say it. If you need to vent, then vent wisely to a trusted person; but still be careful with your words. Don’t slander someone under the guise of “venting”. Learn to trust the warnings of the Spirit when He shows you people’s hearts are impure, even though their words are charming. Guard your heart because what comes out of your mouth is coming from your heart. Keep it pure from all bitterness. Whatever you speak in secret, will one day be blasted like a trumpet in public therefore speak the words of life and truth. You don’t need to fear man or his reprisal at the truth; but you better fear God. #runyourrace
